Welcome!

Dogs speak a different language! They have different customs! They confound us as much as they love us. Loving your dog is not enough and that is why you need Mountaineer K-9 Services to make the relationship right.

Obedience Training is one of the best things you can do for your dog or puppy... and yourself. So many dogs end up in shelters and or isolated when friends and family come to visit.  Mountaineer will strive to give you the knowledge and the tools to create a safe healthy environment for you, your dog and your visitors.

Obedience training doesn't solve all behavior problems, but it is the foundation for solving just about any problem. Training opens up a line of communication between you and your dog. Whether you are talking to an 8 week old pup and an adult dog you need to understand your dog and your dog needs to understand you.

Obedience training is also an easy way to establish the social hierarchy (you as Alpha). Dogs are social climbers and as a result of that are always looking for ways to regain or take alpha status from you. In dog language when your dog chooses to do what he/she wants in their mind they gain a step up the ladder in moving toward alpha supremacy. When a dog goes in or out the door ahead of people, eats when it wants to, sits crooked or get ups when you tell him/her to sit, flops over or bites when you correct him/her. They are taking more steps to being in charge. When a dog is allowed to get on the furniture, bed, or put is paws on people he is gaining status in his/her mind at the top of the social ladder.

When dog owners allow their dog to be in charge it leads to many behavior problems. Some of which are excessive barking, destruction of household stuff, nipping, biting, dog and people aggression etc.
